Beyonce sparkles in Sydney, Australia
Oct 25, 2006

SHE'S crazy in love with our wildlife, but it was the glittery offerings of a Sydney jeweller which caught Beyonce Knowles' eye yesterday.
After hitting the tourist trail on public transport to Taronga Zoo on Tuesday afternoon, the style queen spent the day holed up in her Sydney hotel yesterday.

But the singer was treated to a special delivery of new baubles by Earlwood jeweller, Emmanuelle Tsakaris who has previously been commissioned to create collections for the bootylicious singer.

Beyonce gives whirlwind appearance at VIP party
Oct 02, 2006

What makes a good party? On the red carpet at Glamorama Friday, Beyonce Knowles said: "It's the people, good music and good food."
She left one thing out -- the energetic chaos that emerges when all three converge.
The VIP post-party, where nearly 250 people paid $1,000 to get face time with her, had the makings of a frenetic, New York City-style celebrity bash. VIPers were trying to see and be seen, and get a glimpse of the starlet and her mother, Tina, who were surrounded by a "glam squad" of security guards and handlers.

Getting an unobstructed sight of the mother/daughter design team was impossible because of the handlers and the crowd.

The group breezed onto Macy's on State Street's eighth floor via a private entrance, struck poses for photographers, shook hands like politicians, and beamed dynamite smiles. They greeted former Destiny's Child songbird and friend Michelle Williams, as well as guests Linda Johnson Rice and her daughter, Alexa. Then before we knew it, they were gone!

"It felt like New York," said Juanita Jordan, about the frenzy.

Beyonce's brief cameo set the place on fire, getting the crowd to kick it well into the night. They indulged in silver-dollar size scallops, giant prawns and top-shelf Grey Goose vodka, and styled and profiled in designer frocks.

Faces in the place: Valerie Jarrett, Desiree Rogers, Neal Zucker, Catrice Armstrong and Tony Jones, president of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Those who didn't have the pleasure of seeing her up close on the eighth floor partied vigorously on the seventh floor, savoring Latin American, Asian, Mediterranean and Italian delicacies.

The night's cause, though, wasn't forgotten in the shuffle. The event drew 2,400 and raised more than $375,000 for the Art Institute of Chicago's Auxiliary Board and Evening Associates. Chairs were Glen Eden, Peter Goldman, Peter H. Huizenga Jr., and Karen Trimberger and Beyonce and Tina Knowles were honorary chairs.

Beyonce was right: people do make the party. And they made this one.

Kelly Performs at Glamorama
Sep 22, 2006

The beat went on in high style for Glamorama on Thursday, fueled by the percussion troupe that opened the show and the global hip-hop/salsa/jazz-funk band that kicked it throughout. But with Macy's at the helm for the first time, the annual fall fashion extravaganza seemed a bit light on, well, fashion.

Beyonce Wins Big at Mobo Awards
Sep 21, 2006

Beyoncé collected a hat-trick of awards at the MOBOs last night (09.20.06).
The 25-year-old singer was named Best International Female and her single 'Deja Vu' won Best Song and Best Video at the ceremony - which recognises music of black origin.
Her rapper fiancé Jay-Z, who collaborated on the award-winning track, scooped Best International Male.
Although both Beyoncé and Jay-Z were in London, the couple snubbed the event, at the Royal Albert Hall, which was hosted by rapper Coolio.

Corinne Bailey Rae was the pick of the UK talent.

The 27-year-old singer, who flew back from her US tour to attend the ceremony, collected awards for Best UK Female and Best UK Newcomer.

The 'Put Your Records On' singer, who performed a 40s-inspired medley, released her debut album just six months ago.

Lemar was named Best UK Male, his third MOBO award in two years, while the Black Eyed Peas won Best Group.

Ms Dynamite's younger brother Akala surprisingly beat Buster Rhymes and Kanye West to win Best Hip-hop - despite not having a record deal.

The 22-year-old rapper - who has won critical acclaim for his refreshing rhymes about Shakespeare, the congestion charge and gun crime - recently said: "Modern American hip-hop is garbage. Rap has not got respect as an intellectual entity. Great rappers are literary geniuses."
